Mid-Century Poster, Brick Red and Yellow Ochre, Aperol Spritz
A glass of Aperol Spritz fills the centre, the orange slice and ice cubes outlined in black. The palette is restricted to brick red, yellow ochre, and ivory black.
1919, Padua. Aperol was created by the Barbieri brothers as an herbal liqueur, slightly bitter and sweet. The Spritz, served over ice with an orange slice, follows Italian tradition. The drink saw significant international reach in the 2010s. The handwritten lettering at the top of the poster echoes hand-painted signage, with visible variations in brush stroke width in the capitals.
