The eye settles first on the brick-red clay court, the white baseline and the basilica silhouette, with emerald green reserved for the stands as a counterpoint.

1930s, Marseille. The image uses the basilica Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde as silhouette, the city's symbol dominating the horizon. The aesthetic belongs to the Art Deco travel posters of the interwar period, with a title in sans-serif capitals. The clay surface, made of crushed brick, explains the choice of vermilion and terracotta in the palette.
