Marathon Mid-Century Poster – Cédric des Lauriers
The black silhouette of the runners dominates the centre, flanked by the Eiffel Tower and wide diagonal stripes in vermilion and cobalt blue sweeping in from the left.
The modern Paris Marathon was founded in 1976; since then, race visuals have often combined runner silhouettes with Parisian monuments, an immediately readable shorthand. The typography here follows the principles of the mid-20th-century international current, hence the use of geometric sans-serif capitals. Cédric des Lauriers is the author of this work.
