Wimbledon Tennis Art Deco Poster – Cédric des Lauriers
Two player silhouettes stand out against a grass oval, dominated by cobalt blue, ochre yellow and ivory black.
Since 1877, Wimbledon has been the oldest tennis tournament, played at the All England Club always on grass, making the grass court its defining feature. The Elizabeth Tower and Big Ben serve here as a recognisable urban landmark in the city skyline in the background. The Art Deco movement favoured sharp geometric forms and upper-case typography, codes that the poster deliberately echoes. Cédric des Lauriers is the author.
